  • Prioritizing Girl Time

    January 21, 2014

    bookclub

I’m so lucky to have really great girlfriends!!!  I’ve been part of a book club for almost two years, and from the beginning I knew how great it was to meet up with other women to gossip, to eat, to drink, to laugh, and to cry (every once in a while it happens). Before Annabelle I never had to prioritize girl time.  It just seemed to happen.  But since I’ve had a baby I realize more than ever how important it is to make time for girlfriends.  Sometimes it’s just getting together on a Sunday for an hour for a drink at the grocery store with a couple of girls, but that time is worth more than any amount of money.

I really look forward to those random Sundays that we find the time together or the Friday lunches or the monthly Book Club gatherings.  Even though there are nights that I’m exhausted and just want to go to bed (and Book Club is probably the last thing I need to be doing), but I know that if I just put some comfy pants on, grab a bottle of wine, and go that I’ll have some great laughs and it’s exactly what I need.  And it’s so true, I’ll come home, lay down and smile, saying a little thank you for the wonderful girlfriends I have.  And above is a picture from a couple months ago at one of our Book Club gatherings.

I can’t believe that 2013 is already over and January is almost past us as well.  This past year has been full of so many new adventures, becoming a parent being at the top of the list.  I feel so lucky we’ve had such a healthy, happy, and blessed year full of so many great memories.

    augustiphone

I thought it might be fun to share some of the pictures we take on our phones each month.  Even though the pictures we take with our “nice” camera are wonderful, we don’t always get to capture the things we do on a random Tuesday.  For the month of August I only have pictures from my phone but in the future I hope to share some from Dusty’s phone too.

    1. DIY artwork for the nursery.
    2. Gift from Dusty for the nursery.  We call him Pierre!
    3. DIY artwork for the nursery.
    4. DIY pillows for the nursery.
    5. Baby bump 38 weeks. Date night with Dusty before Annabelle was born.
    6 & 7. Quilt for nursery
    8. Nothing Bundt Cake. I won a bundt cake at a baby fair!  This cake is the most delicious thing I’ve ever had!
    9. Another quilt for the nursery. I had extra fabric and just couldn’t choose one pattern.
    10. Maha Music Festival.
    11. Framed art for nursery.
    12. Selfie of me before we left for the hospital to have Annabelle.
    13. Our little Miss Annabelle welcomes the world!

    16. Annabelle’s first ride home!

  • I’ve always loved period pieces and have always known PBS and BBC produce some of the best miniseries (at least in my opinion).  In fact, I’ve gone through Netflix on more than one occasion searching for “Masterpiece Theatre” and “Miniseries” to see if there were any new shows I haven’t seen lately.

This year I found that both PBS and BBC put many of their most recent episodes on their websites.  Some of my current favorites are Downton Abbey, Call the Midwife, Land Girls, and Upstairs Downstairs.

I’m a little obsessed at the moment and Dusty’s kind enough to watch them with me, even if he does it begrudgingly and often times makes fun of either me or the acting at some point during the show.
